beauty for ashes

Yesterday was Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent.
A day to purge ourselves of self-indulgent pursuits and to remind us of the hope we have for tomorrow.

beauty for ashes
strength for fear
gladness for mourning
peace for despair

Dying for something is easy because it is associated with glory.
Living for something is the hard thing.
Living for something extends beyond fashion, glory, or recognition.
We live for what we believe.

  8. Sometimes I just scratch my head. Maybe that other anonymous has a point? You've been gone for days, come back with someone else's beautiful words, and everyone pets you like you wrote an actual blog post. If you want to write, then do it!

    2. Anon - she clearly credited the authors and some people found it to be beautiful. perhaps they hadn't heard it before, so molly sharing the words was something they appreciated. but mostly, molly hasn't posted in awhile, and while they call her a beautiful writer, perhaps they were just missing her posts, or liked the way she described ash wednesday in the first few sentences. you are more than entitled to be befuddled by other people liking something that doesn't strike your fancy, and to encourage molly to write more. we don't always have to "pet" the authors of the blogs we read. but don't be a coward. stand by your opinion by attaching your name to it, like most of us here have done. when you don't do that it seems like you're being mean for the sake of being mean, rather than trying to actually communicate and share a converstion with the author, the kickass molly in this case.

  11. I’ve missed reading your thoughts my friend. More than anything – specifically, your choice of words or topic, I love and appreciate your perspective and outlook on life. You always find beauty in the small things and make the effort to write about it here to help you remember. I think you are amazing!

  12. Those quotes.... they're beautiful, and ones I've never heard before. Thanks for sharing, Molly.

Are you giving anything up for Lent? I'm trying for no chocolate, but it's proving too hard for me. I ate a mini bag of Cadbury mini-eggs without even realizing it last night. Whoops!
