'round here

I don't want to take for granted the little things in life that make my heart happy.

colorful Fall leaves outside our apartment

a headband that stayed in place while I ran around in the rain

apples nestled into bags

vibrant hued flowers at the bodega

things on my table

the shadow of my umbrella and my very own feet on the ground in this city I love

Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not;
Remember that what you have now was once among the things you only hoped for.

  1. So that quote at the end here just hit home and made me cry a little. In a good way, because it's so true.

Thanks for the reminder of that important truth!

  2. ahhh so true. let's hope today we don't have to use our umbrellas though! have a wonderful day molly.

  3. Thank you for the reminder to indeed be thankful. We have so much. I love the look of the city where you live now and am so glad you're having this adventure.

  4. I am continuously bowled over by your incredibly ability to appreciate the finest and also the simplest things in life. Friend, you have quite the appreciateive eye, and I like it.

  5. pretty pics. this is inspiring for me. today I am going to pause and see what is around me.

  6. I love it! The leaves changing colors are my favorite too. I love to just stand at the end of our street before I turn the corner and take the sight in for a few extra seconds.

    And a great quote!

  7. All I want to know is where the hell is my Christmas Martha?

  8. headbands that stay in place are not to be overlooked. seriously.

also, i like the word bodega.

  9. Love this, dear Molly.

I love your grateful heart, as well as your lovely pictures - particularly those gorgeous flowers.

And yes, regarding the headband . . . where does one find such a companion who stays in place?

  10. Just today, as I was gathering leaves for Lydia's 3p party, I stopped while on the ground and thought... why don't do I this, just because..... The yellow and red leaves are so beautiful. Acorns are so simple and neat. I've walked over them for a month and haven't thought twice about them, until today. I need to soak up all the beauty around me, instead of hurrying to the next chore on my list. Thanks for the reminder!

  11. laurenjeanallece- It kinda hit me like a ton of bricks, too. Glad to know we both needed the reminder. :)

colleen- I have you have had a swell day yourself!

E + B- I had to buy my Christmas Martha at the bodega. That was for you, B. Does Martha come to Ivie Grocery?

ourvapor- Mine promptly fell off my head as soon as typed those words. Sigh.

  12. The quote at the end is very inspiring. I sometimes feel like I just want and want and want and do not take enough time to appreciate what I have. Thanks for hitting this home.

I am all about trying to live in the moment these days. It is amazing how much easier it is to appreciate the little things when you are actually present.

Thanks for this post! And thanks for being you :)

  13. I am behind on commenting.

Why do headbands have to be so cute yet so difficult? My problem is, twenty minutes in I have a severe headache. And the comfort of my brain is just more important than the cuteness of my hair.

Those flowers are lovely. I want some.

I just got the new Martha in the mail. I started a list on possible Christmas cookie recipes for this year. I want to make 8 batches of 8 different cookies in one day like my mother in law, Gail, does. It's happening.

  14. girl, your really know how to share a good quote. ah the little things.

  15. 1) If I was you I would probably watch You've Got Mail...every weekend. 2) Are those bean boots? Either way ya look cute.

  16. Erin- I want to sample each of the cookies you make. Thank you in advance.

    SBS- Thank you :)

Maggy- 1. I love You've Got Mail. 2. They are bean boots, indeed, and I love them, too. Thank you. :)
