welcoming committee

not too long after our arrival in Dallas we were met by this sweet face...
meet sam
he is my cousin's child &
i think we'll be fast friends

j & i are hanging at my aunt & uncle's house until we get our new digs on Monday
we are quite thankful to live in a city with such gracious family

we met up with an old friend today
i told her i was sorry i had taken our friendship for granted

our first official Texas meal, however, was none other than authentic TexMex
we left full & happy

i think Sam was disappointed he missed out on the TexMex

we are spending these next days taking a much needed rest before J's new job begins next week
so what about you?
what are you up to these days, friends?

our days are numbered

our days on the West Coast are coming to a close

I am going to miss our sweet city

I'll be back with another post soon...

Right now we are busy making every minute count
although I need to be busy packing...

dear California, I love you.

picking up

our sweet friends Rob & Hillary came to visit us all the way from Nashville
they were in California for a wedding this weekend & made a special stop to see us
hold on... this picture is a little blurry...

now! that's better...
although we were only together for a short time we exhausted every minute

we did our fair share of eating & drinking
followed by much chilling & relaxing

we even managed a little photo shoot down by the water

you know those friends that you pick up right where you left off?
well Rob & Hil are just that kind
we are thankful to journey thru life alongside these two

Hillary even brought me a little happy surprise
a sweet & oh so fragrant reminder of the beauty of friendship

whatever happened to predictability?

please tell me I'm not the only one out there who grew up with half the cast of Full House!

if you can join me in singing the theme song
then I am sure you can appreciate the Painted Ladies of San Francisco

this beautiful row of old Victorian homes is located in Alamo Square
& they are just as grand as they seem

the park nearby gave us a wonderful view of the lovely ladies
I think if I'd closed my eyes I could almost feel the spirit of DJ Tanner drifting around me!

I never found DJ {or Stephanie or Michelle for that matter}...
but my friend Delia did accompany us for my little jaunt down memory lane

after my walk down memory lane I came back to reality to find the Easter bunny...
never knew he lived in Alamo Square

along the way we stumbled upon these beautiful flowers
i have no idea what they are... Mom, any idea?

we had a great weekend

and now... in the words of John Stamos
Everywhere you look there's a heart, a hand to hold onto
Everywhere you look there's a face, somebody who needs you
Everywhere you look

to California with love

Dear California,

You have been a very good home to us.

I wish I could bottle up your weather & send it back to Alabama for keeps.

I love the way your wind blows the sweetest {and strongest} breezes along the Bay.

You make outdoor activity in the summer a wonder & not an oppression.

Your views aren't too shabby, either.

You have given us the perfect mix of big city & island living all wrapped up into one.

I cannot begin to name all the wonderful adventures we have shared here within your borders.

I feel we have adapted quite well to life without a car... even when bundling up our groceries.

You make meeting up with friends read like a script in a movie...

See you at Park & Santa Clara around noon?
Your rolling hills dotted with lovely home after lovely home make me think I am in another country.

Why are you so beautiful?

I wish you could be our home for a while longer, but another adventure beckons.

Will you be here waiting for us to visit you again? I promise we will return!

Would you please remember us with the same fondness as we remember you?

We will tell all our friends & family just how beautiful you are.

Although I have attempted to document our days together here on this little blog, your memory will long remain an imprint on my heart.

Indeed, you have been a very good home to us.

P.S. my humbled gratitude for obliging my request to keep the earthquakes to a minimum.

i don't think we'll ever tire of the beauty around us

had to throw this picture in for the sake of keepin' it real...
love the expressions! who knows what adventure we were about to take!

Family & a Farmer's Market

my parents have joined us for a vacation in California!
we are so excited to have them here with us

we have been antique'n

and found some lovely things

we have been eating
Tucker's has been a long awaited treat for Mom & Dad
{pardon the shadow}

we have been on many adventures in the city
including the Farmer's Market at the Ferry Building in San Francisco

the flowers & fruit & produce were in competition for their perfect beauty
each in their own right

then there were these beauties
somebody ate my treat before I could put my camera down

i won't say which one is the custard-filled homemade doughnut thief
except that it's the one on the left

this is a much needed get-away for my folks
and we are soaking up every moment of every beautiful day with them

our time together is always full & happy
and so is my heart.
