Napa Valley

we began our morning with a strong start from Blue Bottle Coffee
you might need to grab a snack, yourself...
i'm gonna take you on a little tour of Napa

we absolutely loved this day & this specific tour had much to do with it

it was amazing to see the vine produce fruit

and to see the fruit go from here...

to here

to here...

and finally here!

let's say, per chance, that you wanted to buy an acre or so to begin a vineyard in Napa
the minimum acreage one can buy & sell in Napa is 40 acres
so a sweet little start-up vineyard is going to run about 10 million
any takers?

the V. Sattui Vineyard was one of my favorites

the scenery was magical

and truly breathtaking

i desperately attempted to soak in every last detail

we did manage to break away from the liquid nourishment to partake in the deli's offerings

and to enjoy these beauties

J very much looked the part of a wine spectator don't you think?
he swirled his glass with the best of 'em!

meet Amy
she & her husband were on the tour with us
native Texans, they were on home-leave from her husband's job in Cairo
Amy, you were such a lovely Napa companion!
we wish you & yours the very best back in Egypt!

i could have lingered at this table a while longer

but the ferry beckoned us back to our respective homes
i quickly caught this view of a lighthouse turned bed & breakfast
that's got your name on it, Dad!

my favorite man & me in one of the most delightful places on Earth
{sigh}

random memories need to be remembered, too

palm trees are everywhere

i think they are quite grand & beautiful

speaking of grand... meet the Transamerica Pyramid
the tallest & most recognizable skyscraper in the SF skyline
i love that we can see this beauty from our apt

nearby i found a sweet ride

i think she might be a character with stories & secrets aplenty

afternoon refreshment
one for j & one for me

we celebrated the grand opening of Scolari's Italian Restaurant this weekend
stromboli with bleu cheese fries
in a word, sinful

our California home
saying goodnight to a beautiful day

Everybody wants to be fancy and new.
Nobody wants to be themselves.
I mean, maybe people want to be themselves, but they want to be different,
with different clothes or shorter hair or less fat.
It's a fact.
If there was a guy who just liked being himself and didn't want to be anybody else,
that guy would be the most different guy in the world and everybody would want to be him.

holiday weekend

we began our weekend with dinner at a place on our hit list
It brought back great memories to J of the summer he spent in New Zealand
burgers New Zealand style come with eggs, ham & beets
J said even McDonalds in NZ serves them up like this
different, huh?

the local Alameda parade was very festive
love the old cable car

also in attendance at the parade...
spun sugar goodness

next stop... San Francisco for fireworks
stumbled upon the Federal Reserve on our way

hanging baskets are everywhere
 they make me happy

Vaillancourt Fountain

Coit Tower looking sleepy at dusk

Old Glory

good night, San Francisco
we like you alot

welders + Sausalito + a new drink

Happy July to you!
can you guess what week it was in San Francisco?

earlier in the week we found some sunglasses at H&M.
J says they look like we should be welding.
i think they look like we just had cataract surgery.
we decided H&M could keep them.

we departed from SF & boarded a ferry over to the quaint city of Sausalito

we loved this sweet city

windblown look compliments of the ferry ride

Lappert's lemon sorbet was the perfect companion for our afternoon in the park

fountain of youth
not really... just seeing if you were paying attention

our view of Alcatraz from the ferry on the way back to SF

the classic Golden Gate
{connects SF to Sausalito}

approaching San Francisco with a view of Coit Tower

we ended our day with dinner at Castagnola's at the wharf
bonus: J has a new favorite drink

we were privileged to hear some awesome local comics while we enjoyed dinner
i think my man could have blown them out of the water
maybe one day I'll convince him to take the stage

it was a day filled with good food, great weather & beautiful surroundings
and maybe, just maybe a little laughter along the way
.theEnd.
