Little Buddy

So here's an interesting fact about my husband and me...we are both only children by birth. J has a stepsister that we love dearly...i hate the word {step} for she is truly his sister and very much a part of our family! Other than Jessica, we have had to adopt friends into our lives to serve as {future} aunts & uncles for our {future} children. My family is quite large, but nothing replaces the connection you have with close aunts and uncles who love you like crazy and spoil you rotten!

Meet Herreson.

He is not family by blood, but he is family none the less! His parents are two of our closest friends who really have become family to us. We have been adopted by them into their respective families and are truly greatful for the impact they make on our lives.

J calls Herreson his Little Buddy. I love to see J get so excited to hang out with this sweet little boy. It seems like yesterday Herreson was born and now he is crawling everywhere! Linds & Robbie, you have no idea how thankful we are for you and for your family. We love you so much and love our Little Buddy beyond words!

Herreson ate noodles at Nana Lil's for the first time...I have a feeling it won't be the last!

Happy Fall Y'all

Pumpkins make me happy! Maybe it's because they are a sure sign that Fall is here and Christmas is on the way!

My very first truly {homemade} pecan pie! Homemade crust courtesy of Nana {I haven't fully mastered the technique yet}. Pecans straight from Nana's backyard. Scheduled to be devoured at J's Mom's Thanksgiving dinner this weekend...if it makes it 'til then!

I am so thankful for this time of year to purposefully reflect on the blessings we have. I cannot imagine what life would be like without the love of Christ, the Giver of all good things. It is because of His unconditional love that we can love each other. I am thankful more than ever for my family and my friends who are my family. I hope you are enjoying the season to be thankful for those you love dearly! Happy Fall to all yall!

A Mid-Summer's Visit

My best friend from back home, Mary Beth, brought her children up to Tuscaloosa for a visit before their cousin's wedding in Birmingham. I am so thankful I had the privilege of spending time with 3 of my favorite Dothanites!

During their stay, we went to The Children's Hands On Museum where Madison & Mitchell {my namesake} got to make Indian necklaces, fly a space shuttle, make milkshakes and even visit a replica of DCH {our local hospital & Justin's place of employment}.

Mary Beth is one of the most amazing women I know. She is a teacher in Dothan- any parent who has a child in her class can rest assured their children will receive an excellent education. Among being a wife, parenting & teaching, Mary Beth just finished her Masters and I am so proud of her!

I do pray that one day Justin and I will be blessed with children and when that day comes, I have an amazing example of a godly & committed mother in my friend. MB, I really don't know if you realize what an amazing mother you are. You are always ready with an answer that is understandable and kind. You use everyday as a teachable moment. I love your children and I love the way you and James are raising them! Please write a book {in all your spare time} for the rest of us! J and I totally enjoyed your visit! We cannot wait to see you all again!

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Happy New Year, Happy 2 Years, Happy Renovation

Even though it's now the 17th day of February, is it too late to give a Happy New Year shout? 2009 is officially here and with it's arrival, ushered in many reasons to celebrate at the Rigoloso abode! January 6th marked the second blessed anniversary of the day i became Mrs. Justin Rigoloso! The day i married my best friend and the love of my life! Here's to you, make life fun, yet you give it depth. I never knew I could love like this! I'd like many more anniversaries with you, please!

Not too long after our anniversary we began kitchen renovation on Easton Lane...our beloved home. Did I mention that I caught our kitchen on fire before Thanksgiving and we are just now recovering the aftermath? Oh, I caught our kitchen on fire! Reluctantly, I give you a picture that documents that glorious event...

Thankfully, the insurance folks were a dream as were our dear friends, Wes & Meag. We only had to replace the flooring and paint. (The cabinets and appliances survived, as did we, with minor damage). Operative word: only. Who knew laying tile was so labor-intensive?! Granted, HGTV is television and they have to make everything look uber-easy, but did yall know they are liars?! Needless to say, my stove and fridge are now back in their rightful places after nearly a month of "only" having to replace the floor...and paint. This weekend we may have our washer and dryer back in the laundry room instead of their temporary housing in our garage. Here's hoping! The positives of catching the kitchen on fire are as follows:

1.I do love my new kitchen...I will post pictures when the project is complete.

2.My sweet 2 year marriage withstood the first major home renovation...although J said (and I quote), "No more projects for a long time!"

3.We have realized all over again how blessed we are with friends who came quickly to our aid and went above and beyond to help lighten the know who are you and you are loved beyond words.

4.Only a few more days (hopefully) of using beach towels after showers...but thank goodness we have them!

I look forward with great anticipation to the rest of sharing what each day brings with J, our family, our friends who are like our family. We truly are blessed, kitchen fire included, to have been given Life...may we live it gracefully...and with no more projects for a long time!
